Red Wings Re-Sign Mitch Callahan to One-Year Contract

While we wait for the big name RFAs to re-sign in Detroit with the hope that either the deals get done smartly or the arbitration process doesn’t hurt he relationship between the Red Wings and Danny DeKeyser/Petr Mrazek, we’ve got a signing of a different RFA to announce.

The soon-to-be-25 year old Callahan will again be a restricted free agent at the end of this deal. He is waiver eligible and will have to clear if he’s going to be assigned to Grand Rapids again this season, but both of those things seem extremely likely.

Callahan is well-liked by Red Wings fans because he’s shown the kind of do-anything grit that people like and decent scoring prowess at the AHL level.
