The Grand Rapids Griffins are currently one of the hottest teams in the 2016 Calder Cup playoffs as they swept the Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville Predators AHL affiliate) in the first round. The Griffins outscored the Admirals 9-3 in the series and will play the Lake Erie Monsters (Columbus Blue Jackets AHL affiliate) in the second round.
Many Detroit Red Wings prospects impressed in the first round, most notably forward Anthony Mantha who leads the team in scoring with 4 points (three goals, one assist). Mantha had a multi-goal game in game 3 of the series to help the Griffins secure the sweep.
