Detroit Pistons' Stanley Johnson May Miss A Month With Shoulder Sprain

The Detroit Pistons are fighting for a playoff berth as one of the lower seeds in the Eastern Conference, but those chances may have taken a hit with the news that rookie forward Stanley Johnson could miss a moth with a shoulder sprain he suffered on a hard screen against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Detroit lost depth when they traded Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilyasvoa to the Orlando Magic for Tobias Harris last week, and forward Anthony Tolliver is also out 2-4 weeks with an injury.

That being said, losing Johnson might be the biggest blow to the Pistons. An excellent defender, Johnson can play either wing position and has been playing better of late.

Head coach Stan Van Gundy said he's hopeful that Johnson could be back in just a couple of weeks. However, don't expect the Pistons to rush back one of their young up-and-coming stars.

Johnson is averaging 9.0 points and 4.2 rebounds in 23.9 minutes per game so far this season.
