Pistons Rumors: Mike Woodson as next Pistons head coach?

In Pistons rumors tonight, the Detroit Pistons could be looking at recently fired New York Knicks head coach Mike Woodson for their own vacant head coaching role.

Per Marc Berman of the New York Post, "while Woodson could take next season off as he’s due $3.4 million on the final year of his contract, he may investigate current vacancies, specifically the one in Detroit."

Woodson finished second to Lawrence Frank in the Detroit Pistons' head coaching search in 2011-12, and was a member of the coaching staff under Larry Brown which lead the Detroit Pistons to the 2004 NBA title.

Woodson also interviewed for the vacant head coaching role in Minnesota that summer. After Rick Adelman retired on Monday, Berman speculates that Woodson could potentially rekindle his interest in that job.

However, many analysts are indicating that Woodson may use a year off to scout the coaching landscape, perhaps attempting to wait on his potential dream job with his alma mater, the Indiana Hoosiers.
