Rising stock on two fronts – the improvement of the team and the City of Detroit’s revival after emerging from the biggest municipal bankruptcy in the country’s history – have combined to put the Lions on NBC’s Sunday Night Football schedule for the first time.
The Lions will host the Denver Broncos Week 3 on Sept. 27 at Ford Field.
Sunday Night Football coordinating producer Fred Gaudelli said in a national conference-call interview Wednesday that Matthew Stafford and Calvin Johnson have been featured during the telecasts, but it was time for the Lions to make the schedule.
