Mel Kiper: RB Dalvin Cook too good for Detroit Lions to pass up

The Detroit Lions have spent top-two-round NFL draft picks on running backs three times in the past seven years and, given the team's struggles on the ground, ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. said it's something they'll have to look at again this April.

"I think, right now, it would be certainly something to consider if the back that you wanted was there (at No. 21)," Kiper said on a teleconference today. "If Dalvin Cook were there, yeah, I think you’d almost have to."

Kiper gave the Lions Alabama linebacker Tim Williams in his first mock draft, published today.
