3 Draft Day Trades The Detroit Lions Could Make

The 2015 NFL Draft is under a month away, which means draft trade rumors are about to get extremely loud around the league. The Detroit Lions are one team that could be in the mix for some draft day hijinx, but what/who exactly would they look to trade for? Here’s 3 Draft Day Trades The Detroit Lions Could Make.

1. Swap #23 pick for Dallas' #27 pick and a late-round pick in 2015

If Kentucky pass rusher Bud Dupree is still on the board before Detroit hits the clock on #23, the Lions could very well pull off this deal so Dallas can pick Dupree (who they covet) and Detroit can add another pick to their 2015 puzzle. Provided both Alabama RB Todd Gurley and Wisconsin RB Melvin Gordon are still on the board as well, the Lions can sit back with an extra selection (which would be nice with Baltimore owning Detroit's 4th & 5th round picks) and wait for one or both to fall to them.

2. Trade #23 pick to Oakland for 2nd (#35) and 4th-rounder (#102)

Oakland's desperate to stockpile top-level talent at its skill positions. If the Raiders somehow decide to pass on the Amari Cooper/Kevin White WR duo at #4 and go defense for some one like USC DE Leonard Williams, the Lions could very well squeeze the Raiders for a 4th-rounder if a guy like Louisville WR DeVante Parker is sitting there.

3. Trade 3rd-round pick (#88) to Minnesota for RB Adrian Peterson

The most unlikely of these three scenarios, such a move would be contingent on Peterson agreeing to the idea of a restructured, salary cap-friendly deal with an extra year tacked on (putting it at 4 years). Detroit has made it clear that they're only looking to draft prospects for RB help, and that would make sense. However, if they can wrest Peterson away in such a manner that it doesn't crush their faces against the cap ceiling, such a hypothetical is interesting enough.
