The final two months of the season were a godsend for point guard D.J. Augustin, whom the Nuggets acquired from Oklahoma City at the NBA's trade deadline. Prior to that move this was poised to be a rocky free agent summer for him.
Now?
Augustin is much more in demand. He has solidified himself as a player who will get a big boost in pay as the salary cap expands, whether he re-signs with the Nuggets or goes someone else. . And it all has been made possible by his play off the bench.
"I was in a tough situation in Oklahoma," Augustin said.
