The NFL Draft will start in just over a month, and there will be plenty of trades. That's just the nature of the draft, although those trades are very difficult to predict. One of the teams that could be movers early in the draft is the Denver Broncos. The Broncos are picking at the end of the first round, a prime spot to trade up or down from.
To help determine the value of each pick and what it would cost, we're using the NFL trade value chart. While the trade values won't match up exactly, we tried to get them as close to even as possible. With that in mind, here are three trades the Broncos could make in the NFL Draft.
3. Trade Up With Raiders
Raiders Get: No. 31 overall, 2nd round pick (No. 63 overall), 2017 first round pick
Broncos Get: No. 14 overall
If the Broncos are still looking for a QB by the time the NFL Draft rolls around, they might get a bit desperate. Jared Goff and Carson Wentz will be too expensive for the Broncos to go get, but they could move up and take Paxton Lynch. He'd be a good fit for Denver, but the Rams are a likely candidate to take him. Trading with the Raiders would let the Broncos jump Los Angeles and Raiders' GM Reggie McKenzie likes to deal down. It's a steep price to pay, especially to a division rival, but the Broncos would land a franchise QB in the process.
2. Trade Out Of First Round
Rams Get: No. 31 overall
Broncos Get: 2nd rounder pick (No. 45 overall), 3rd round pick (No. 76 overall)
The Rams actually come up short in the value department of this deal, but Denver will demand quite a bit for their first rounder. If there's a run on WRs at the end of the first round, the Rams could be desperate, since the top ones will likely be off the board when they pick in Round Two. This would let the Rams jump a team like the Cleveland Browns, who could want a WR early in the Round 2. Plus, the Rams have two second rounders. The Broncos don't mind moving down and it gives them another Top 100 pick.
1. Trade With 49ers:
49ers Get: 2017 conditional draft pick
Broncos Get: QB Colin Kaepernick
Perhaps the 49ers and Broncos can finally work out a deal for Kaepernick during the draft. The Broncos land a QB they can use, and send over a conditional draft pick. It could vary in its exact draft position based on how the Broncos do and how well Kaepernick plays. It can start off at a 6th round pick and be worth up to a 3rd rounder.
