Broncos Rumors: The Latest On Wes Welker's Retirement Decision

Wes Welker has taken more big hits over the past few seasons than most players take in a lifetime, and it's no real surprise that he's starting to think about hanging up his cleats. Welker still has some gas left in the tank, but he'll turn 34 before the 2015 season starts and has sustained three serious concussions since joining the Broncos in 2012.

From what we're hearing, Welker isn't very close to a decision, and it could be some time before the Broncos know for sure if he'll be back next year. While his health is clearly a high priority, Welker has been understandably frustrated with how the last two seasons have ended - he was determined to come back after coming so close in 2013, and he didn't want to go out on a low note after an injury-racked 2014 campaign.

As things currently stand, we'd say it's a toss up between Welker returning and retiring, but Peyton Manning could have some influence over his eventual decision. Manning has dropped quite a few hints that he'll be back in 2015, but there's been no official word...and it sounds like if Manning surprisingly decides to retire, Welker will follow suit rather. If Manning does return, that could lead Welker to do the same.
