Many people are aware that the 49ers evaluated Peyton Manning prior to him signing with the Denver Broncos as the second team of his storied career. With the Broncos facing off with the Niners on Sunday, words as come out that the Broncos also evaluated the 49ers' current starting quarterback, Colin Kaepernick.

As reported by Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, "Cam Inman of the San Jose Mercury News explains that the Broncos took a close look at 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick prior to the 2011 draft."

In Inman's report, Broncos head coach John Fox revealed that he has nothing but respect for the 49ers signal caller.

“I’ve always held Colin in high regard,” Broncos coach John Fox said, via Inman.  “We brought him to Denver to talk [before the 2011 draft], a guy we thought very highly of. It doesn’t surprise me he’s had a lot of success.”

When asked about the Broncos' reported interest back in 2011, Kaepernick was straight and to the point.

Talked to a few of the coaches. That was about it," Kaepernick said.

As Inman points out, the second-round pick that the 49ers used on Kaepernick was traded to them by...the Broncos.
