Chris Durkin scored the opening goal for the United States under-17 team in the second half against their Jamaican counterparts, and the US eventually coasted to a 5-0 victory to start off their World Cup Qualifying campaign.

Durkin, who signed a homegrown contract with D.C. United last summer, started for John Hackworth’s side in Panama in the opening game of the 2017 CONCACAF U17 Championship, which doubles as the qualifying process for the World Cup, which takes place later this year in India. After a scoreless first half, Durkin headed the US into a lead they wouldn’t relinquish in the 53rd minute, beating the keeper and a defender to a corner kick from George Acosta.
