With veterans on the way out, Stars' youth has a chance to take over

The Stars cleared the decks to give youngsters more playing time by shipping veteran defenseman Johnny Oduya to the Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday.

The Stars didn't get much in return, reflecting the likelihood that Oduya isn't healthy. He missed 15 games with an ankle injury before playing Sunday in his trade deadline showcase. But at this point in the season, the Stars are hoping for any asset that can help them down the road.

Dallas received a conditional fourth-round draft pick in 2018 that can turn into a third-round pick if the Blackhawks win two rounds and Oduya plays in at least 50 percent of the games.
