In a year, Stars' Cody Eakin goes from floundering to riding wave of success

A year ago, Cody Eakin didn’t have a contract, missed much of training camp, and had a slow start to the season. This year, he has a long-term contract extension in his pocket, and a head of steam after a great summer.

That’s a huge difference for the 24-year-old center who signed a four-year deal Friday that averages $3.85 million per season and starts next season.

“I don’t think anyone was happy how last season started, so this is much better,” said Eakin, who was unable to get a deal done on time to start training camp in 2014.
