Dallas Mavericks point guard J.J. Barea left Wednesday's 88-83 loss to the San Antonio Spurs with an ankle injury and did not return.

Barea Suffers Sprained Right Ankle

The Mavericks' official Twitter account provided the update on Barea after the sprain forced him out of the game in the fourth quarter.

Barea scored seven points and dished out three assists in only 13 minutes of action versus San Antonio. He is a capable backup who provides an offensive spark and has a place in the heart of Dallas fans for his key contribution to the team's run to the 2011 NBA title.
