Mavs Rumors Roundup: Dallas To Meet With Crawford, Parsons Wants To Return?

The Dallas Mavericks head into the offseason hoping to add the pieces necessary to turn themselves from a playoff team into a title contender, and are going after some of the top free agents on the open market. Here are all the latest Mavs news and rumors you need to know:

Parsons wants to return, Mavs don't want him?
The feeling around the Mavericks is that Chandler Parsons won't be back with the team next season, but that's not necessarily his doing. According to SB Nation's Tim Cato, Parsons would prefer to return to Dallas - but only if they offer him a max deal.

Parsons is dead set on searching for that max deal, which Dallas doesn't want to give him for several reasons. First off, they're scared away by the two knee injuries that have cut short both of Parsons' two seasons with the Mavs. Secondly, they plan to offer max contracts to both Hassan Whiteside and Mike Conley.

They have made Parsons their fourth priority behind Whiteside, Conley and re-signing Dirk Nowitzki, but their unwillingness to give him a max deal - even if they don't get either Whiteside or Conley - will likely cause him to sign elsewhere. The Memphis Grizzlies have already expressed interest in giving Parsons a max deal.

Mavs to meet with Jamal Crawford
Dallas has expressed interest in signing Jamal Crawford to improve their bench unit, and are one of the five teams that have landed a meeting with him, according to Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times.

Crawford has said his preference is to re-sign with the Clippers, but is "very, very open-minded about the whole free-agency process." He averaged 14.2 points and 2.3 assists per game last season.
