What We Learned From The Cowboys' 35-30 Win over The Steelers

That game might be the best all year. The Dallas Cowboys won a 35-30 thriller against the Pittsburgh Steelers. There were eight lead changes, including three in the final two minutes. A thriller in every sense of the word, this was must-watch TV. Ezekiel Elliott had a monster game for Dallas and he's helping his MVP candidacy right now.

Here are three things we learned from Dallas' 35-30 win Sunday.

3. Dak Was Good Enough
Dak Prescott was not great, despite his stat line of 22 of 32 for 319 yards and two TDs looking like he was. He had a costly fumbled, struggled under pressure and missed several open WRs. But he was more than good enough and made a few key plays down the stretch, much like he did earlier this year against the Eagles. If the Cowboys were looking for a poor effort from Prescott so they could start Tony Romo, this likely wasn't it. As the Cowboys continue to win, it becomes harder for the Dallas to re-insert Romo into the lineup.

2. The Defense Played Like We Expected At The Start Of The Season
The Cowboys defense had been a pleasant surprise this year. It had exceeded expectations and hadn't allowed more than 23 points once this year. Against the Steelers, the Cowboys defense came back down to Earth. They limited Le'Veon Bell pretty well (just 57 yards on 17 carries for one score), but the passing game of Pittsburgh was fantastic. Ben Roethlisberger completed 37 of 46 passes for 408 yards and three scores. The Cowboys defense notched only one sack, and that's going to remain a serious issue, and the team clearly missed Morris Claiborne and Barry Church. But 30 points was enough for Dallas to win and the offense will continue to carry the team. Much like Prescott's play, it wasn't spectacular, but it was enough.

1. Feed Zeke!
The Cowboys' best offensive play in the first half came via an 83-yard screen to Ezekiel Elliott, but that was it for his impact in the first half. He had only seven carries in the first half, while the Cowboys threw it more than they ran it. Playing from behind is a part of that, but Elliott needs the ball in his hands. That was the case in the second half. Elliott went off, racking up 114 yards and two critical scores on the ground on only 21 carries. And in 95 yards in the passing game and you've got yourself a hell of a game. He's the focal point of this Cowboys offense and no team has shown they can really stop him. Keep feeding Zeke and good things will happen. And just for fun, here's that game-winning score.
