The Buffalo Bills hope that Kyle Orton proves the answer to their inconsistency on offense so far in 2014. The Dallas Cowboys? They're likely just happy that the problems between their former backup quarterback and starter Tony Romo are a thing of the past.

"The relationship, I'm told, between Kyle Orton and Tony Romo was untenable," NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport revealed to NFL Media's Rich Eisen on Sunday. "They believed it could not continue, which is one reason that Kyle Orton essentially forced his way out of Dallas and signed with Buffalo as a free agent -- a move that coachDoug Marrone initially resisted because they're paying (Orton) $6 million."

Orton failed to show up for any of the Cowboys' preseason activities (as he claimed to be leaning towards retirement) this summer and was subsequently released by the team in the middle of July.

Dallas ate $2.2 million in dead salaray cap space in order to clear the 31-year-old signal caller off the roster, thus ending the tumultuous partnership between Orton and Romo.
