Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Is reduced role, power for Tony Romo the answer?

Dallas Cowboys rumors always seem to have an air of drama and intrigue around them, and one ESPN columnist is looking to add to it by placing the Dallas Cowboys star quarterback in his sights.

In a column for ESPNDallas.com earlier today, analyst Jean-Jacques Taylor bluntly stated that Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo's role in the game-planning aspect of the offense needs to be eliminated--

"With the addition of Scott Linehan to the coaching staff as passing coordinator, Bill Callahan handling the running game and Jason Garrett trying to make sure his thoughts on how to attack the defense each week get included, the Cowboys don't need Romo's presence in the game-planning room."

In order to further emphasize his point, Taylor said that Tony Romo needs to give up his role "voluntarily," indicating that a lot of the Dallas Cowboys' mistakes and inconsistency on offense stem from owner Jerry Jones giving Romo "the juice to do whatever he wants."

Tony Romo had a fine statistical season in 2013, throwing for 3,828 yards, and posting 31 touchdowns against just 10 interceptions. However, he did throw for less than 210 yards in 5 of his 15 starts, spurring detractors to wonder if Romo needs a reduced role in the offense to increase efficiency.
