One noted NFL analyst believes that the Dallas Cowboys' recent signing of former Cleveland Browns starting quarterback Brandon Weeden could spell the end of Tony Romo's time in Dallas come next offseason.

Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports' Shutdown Corner posits that the Cowboys could very well cut Tony Romo at the end of the 2014 season, in order to get out from under his gargantuan cap number for 2015--"If the Cowboys can part ways with DeMarcus Ware for a bloated contract this offseason, what's to stop them from doing the same next year with Tony Romo and his projected salary-cap number of $27.7 million?"

Edholm also ruminates that, if the Dallas Cowboys were to dump Romo for salary cap reasons next spring, the oft-beleaguered Brandon Weeden could be the "favorite — as of now — to be the Cowboys' Week 1 starter, circa September 2015."

The Cowboys' inking of Weeden to a two-year, $1.2 million contract was met with instant derision and derogatory memes aimed at the 30-year old two-year NFL pro.

In two years in Cleveland, Brandon Weeden appeared in 23 games for a Browns team that went 9-23 with him on the roster--finishing dead-last in the AFC North in both 2012 and 2013. Weeden has a 5-15 career record as a starter, posting just 23 touchdowns against 26 career interceptions.

The new Dallas Cowboy also has 12 career fumbles and completed just 52.9% of his passes in 2013--good for 37th out of 37 for qualifying quarterbacks during the 2013 NFL regular season.
