Cowboys Rumors: Dallas Officially Signs Rookie OL La'el Collins

The Dallas Cowboys announced today that they've officially signed former LSU offensive tackle La'el Collins, adding him to an already stacked unit.

Collins was a first-round prospect in the NFL Draft, but he went undrafted due to a murder investigation of his pregnant former girlfriend. The story broke two days before the draft, meaning teams had no time to do their own investigations into the matter. Police have never considered Collins to be a person of interest in the case, but it scared teams off.

He spoke with Baton Rouge Police on Monday and remained a non-suspect and not a person of interest. Police confirmed on Wednesday that a paternity test proved he was not the baby's father, eliminating any motive.

"His situation ended up being a lot clearer this week than it was last week," Bryan Broaddus of DallasCowboys.com told Gannett Louisiana. "During the draft, teams just didn't know. There was so much unknown then. That was the problem. It's clearing up now."
