Cowboys Rumors: Cowboys still in on free agent DE Jared Allen?

Cowboys rumors fans who have had their hearts set on potential future NFL Hall-of-Fame defensive end Jared Allen had their hopes dashed earlier this afternoon when the Seattle Seahawks reportedly signed the four-time First-Team NFL All-Pro.

The Dallas Cowboys, and their fan base, may just have been given a reprieve...if only for now.

According to several NFL sources, Jared Allen left the Seattle Seahawks complex with his wife, without an actual deal being signed. This runs counter to ESPN analyst Ed Werder's statement early on Thursday that the Seahawks and Allen were “working on [the] final details” and “[b]arring unforeseen circumstances, he could sign today.”

Jared Allen's agent has weighed in on the confusing circumstances surrounding his client, stating that Allen and his representatives will “consider the Seahawks offer along with the others, and make a decision this weekend.”

The Dallas Cowboys have been the other team hanging around in the mix, and it would take a minor miracle for the Cowboys to clear up the cap space to sign the five-time NFL Pro Bowler--especially after the Cowboys just signed former Chicago Bears defensive tackle Henry Melton earlier this week.

However, as today's bizarre events can attest to, anything is possible with Allen.

Don't sleep on the Cowboys doing some creative accounting if Allen decides that Jerryland is where he wants to finish his decorated NFL career.
