Cowboys Rumors: Cowboys looking to land free agent RB Chris Johnson?

In what would be an unexpected twist for Cowboys rumors, the Dallas Cowboys may be looking to move on from DeMarco Murray at starting running back in favor of former Tennessee Titans running back Chris Johnson.

Per Lauren Moranor of Sports World Report, while the New York Jets and Atlanta Falcons remain the front-runners to land Chris Johnson, the Dallas Cowboys may have emerged as a dark horse in negotiations with the former 2,000-yard rusher -- mostly due to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones being unsure that DeMarco Murray is the best option going forward --

"The Dallas Cowboys are also an option for Johnson, but a long one at best. The team has Demarco Murray, but Jerry Jones has questioned his ability to carry the ground game on his own. Dallas does not have a lot of salary cap space to work with, so the only way the veteran is headed to the Lone Star State is if his contract demands are low."

However, the Dallas Cowboys could me more than a long shot if reports over Johnson being willing to accept a lower one-year deal with a high-profile team prove true. Sources close to the situation believe that Johnson would be willing to accept such an offer, in order to raise his stock in the 2015 NFL free agent market.
