Cowboys Rumors: Cowboys' interest in free agent DE Julius Peppers "quite real"

Cowboys rumors took on a very splintered tone after longtime Dallas Cowboys defensive end DeMarcus Ware was cut earlier this week. Some fans and analysts were extremely alarmed. Others were jubilant.

Wait til' everyone sees what, or who, may be coming next.

According to CBSSports.com NFL insider Jason La Canfora, the Dallas Cowboys aren't just rumored to be courting former Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers--they might be making a legitimate push to sign the 8-time NFL Pro Bowler--

While Julius Peppers may be entering the last stage of his career at 34-years-old, he has proven to be a durable--and at most times dominant--pass rusher over the entirety of his 12-year NFL career.

Combining his first eight years with the Carolina Panthers and his last four with the Chicago Bears, Peppers has amassed 119 career sacks. This places him 17th on the NFL's all-time list, and third amongst active players (behind Jared Allen and John Abraham.)

2013 was perhaps not one of Peppers' best seasons from a production standpoint, but the Dallas Cowboys free agent target still finished with 7.5 sacks, 31 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, and an interception (just the 9th of his entire career.)
