In today's Cowboys news update, Dallas Cowboys starting quarterback Tony Romo is looking to do what many have failed to do before him - come back as the same productive player he was before having major back surgery.
According to Darin Gantt of Pro Football Talk, Romo his surgery to procedures that other prominent quarterbacks have undergone after their 30th birthdays: "I’ll be able to play for a while,” Romo said during an NFL Network interview, via the Dallas Morning News. “There are way too many cases where you see people come back; Troy Aikman had it – they won a Super Bowl the same season. Joe Montana comes back and wins two Super Bowls. They had the same surgery.”'
Whether or not Romo can match the production that Montana and Aikman had after their surgeries remains to be seen.
However, the biggest reason for optimism coming out of this is the fact that Romo's confidence doesn't seem fazed by having to go under the knife - something which has shaken many players before him coming back from injury.
