Cowboys Draft News: Miami RB Duke Johnson Expresses Desire To Play For Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys are looking to take a running back in the NFL Draft after losing DeMarco Murry, the NFL's leading rusher last season, to the Philadelphia Eagles in free agency.

They're targeting Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon and Georgia's Todd Gurley with their first round pick, but Miami's Duke Johnson thinks the Cowboys should give him a look.

“In college, we ran the same outside zone scheme, so I’m kind of familiar with it,” Johnson said on NFL Network. “I can run it, basically, in my sleep. I ran it so much in high school and I also ran it a lot in college. I think that system fits me well.”

Johnson rushed for 1,652 yards and 10 touchdowns last season, along with 38 receptions for 421 yards and three touchdowns.

He is projected to be drafted in the second or third round.
