A fight breaks out at Dallas minicamp in today's Cowboys news

In today's Cowboys news update, an argument quickly escalated between Dallas Cowboys defensive end Tyrone Crawford and center Travis Frederick on Wednesday, after Crawford grew agitated over the way Frederick was setting up his blocks against him.

Per Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News, the argument turned into a fight with punches thrown by both parties.

“It’s a man’s game,” Crawford said, via Machota's article on Wednesday. “I felt disrespected. With me coming off my injury, everybody was trying to disrespect me."

“He didn’t come too hard at all. It was just the way he grabbed me by my head. I was really upset.”

Crawford tore his left Achilles tendon during training camp last July, sidelining him for the entire 2013 NFL season. His progress from injury is said to be on track, with Crawford expected to shoulder a significant role in 2014.

After verbally sparring with offensive lineman Mackenzy Bernadeau a couple plays after the incident, it became clear that the altercation with Fredrick is part of the deal in camp.

“Oh yeah,” Crawford said when asked if he and Frederick would be cool after their fight. “We’re friends.”

“We always preach competitiveness,”coach Jason Garrett stated. “But you have to compete the right way. The best teams that I’ve been on have always had skirmishes happen. There’s a healthy respect for each other. We’re just trying to get better."

“Sometimes those things happen on the practice field. I thought our guys handled it well after that. We separated the group and moved on to the next drill.”

Frederick had no comment on the fight.
