3 Players The Dallas Cowboys Should Avoid In The 1st Round Of The 2017 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys hold the No. 28 pick in the NFL Draft after a stellar 2016 campaign that resulted in a playoff berth, and this team is looking to add an impact player that can help them take another step forward next season. However, drafting the wrong player could send them in the opposite direction. Here are three players the Cowboys would be smart to avoid in the first round of the draft:

1) Adoree' Jackson, DB, USC

Cornerback is a big need for the Cowboys with Morris Claiborne and Brandon Carr both entering the offseason as free agents. This is a loaded class, and Jackson is a dynamic athlete and returner. However, largely because of the many positions he played in college, he isn't completely polished as a DB. With Dallas needing someone who can contribute right away, they should pass on Jackson.

2) Caleb Brantley, DL, Florida

Brantley is a fringe first-round prospect because of his versatility and ability to play anywhere along the defensive line. However, he isn't a great pass rusher, which is what Dallas needs out of this draft.

3) Taco Charlton, DE, Michigan

Charlton has all of the tools to be a good pass rusher, but only turned those tools into consistent production during the second half of the 2016 season. He may well turn out to be a productive player in the NFL, but the inconsistency and lack of elongated production don't signal great things moving forward.
