2016 NFL Draft: Cowboys Pick Jaylon Smith In 2nd Round - Scouting Report, Highlight Video And More

With the third pick in the second round and the No. 34 overall selection, the Dallas Cowboys have selected LB Jaylon Smith from Notre Dame.

Position: Linebacker

Measurables: 6’2’’, 223 pounds

Scouting Report:

Had Smith not destroyed his knee in final college game, he would have be the No. 1 overall player on many draft boards. But his knee is mangled to the point that there is nerve damage, an issue that takes him completely off the draft board for many teams. But if Smith can return to his previous form, he’ll be one of the best LBs in the NFL. A freak athlete, Smith can play any LB spot and even covered slot WRs at times for Notre Dame. Smith’s injury is a shame, because it could ruin the career of a player who was going to be special.
