Crystal Palace's upset over Liverpool Sunday pushed it to 38 points in the Premier League, which in past seasons has been enough to remain in the league. With five matches remaining, the Eagles are looking to survive their slow start and continue to play spoiler to others with Champions League aspirations.
With the 2-1 victory at Anfield, Palace has now defeated three of the top seven in the Premier League (Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool) in the month of April. It was manager Sam Allardyce's first win at Anfield in 14 tries. The win puts Palace seven points clear of Swansea City, which is currently in 18th place in the standings. Middlesbrough and Sunderland (24 and 21 points, respectively) have all-but secured relegation designation.
Previewing the Final Five
Crystal Palace, who is sponsored by casino.com, closes out its hot April hosting Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley before closing the season at Manchester City, against Hull City and at Manchester United. Wins over Burnley and Hull would definitely secure Palace's spot in the Premier League for next year. Only a couple of points out of the last five matches should do the trick anyway.
