Late Scoring Lifts Softball Past Georgetown To Take Opening BIG EAST Series

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Creighton softball team scored one run in both the sixth and seventh innings and held off a late rally to defeat Georgetown 3-2 on Sunday at Guy Mason Field in Washington, D.C.

The Bluejays took two out of three games against the Hoyas during the opening weekend of BIG EAST play. Creighton and Georgetown split a doubleheader on Saturday.

The Bluejays are now 11-17 overall and 2-1 in BIG EAST play, while Georgetown is 8-19 and 1-2 in league action.

Trailing 2-1 in the sixth inning, Sam Dellinger doubled to left field to lead-off the frame.
