He’s not guaranteed to be in uniform, much less the starting lineup, for Sunday’s game against New England.

But for Crew SC midfielder and vice captain Wil Trapp, the fact that he’s in the conversation is a sign of significant progress. In his recovery from a second concussion in two years, the Gahanna product and key component of coach Gregg Berhalter’s system has been fully active during the first two practice days of the week while reporters were present for full-contact scrimmaging at the end of practice.

It’s been a good feeling.

“Obviously going through a long injury last year, I’ve been a little uber-cautious this time around but with that I think we’ve handled it extremely well,” Trapp said after Wednesday’s practice.
