CBJ Firsts: Welcome, Kevin!

*No disrespect to Stinger, but this is an exaggeration.

They looked to the waiver wire and picked up then-24-year-old Kevin Connauton, cast off by the Dallas Stars but not lean on talent and potential. Desperately needing a defenseman who could step in and contribute minutes right away, GM Jarmo Kekalainen snagged Connauton off waivers, got him on a plane to Columbus and into the lineup a few days later.

And it didn't take long for him to make an impact.

Not only did Connauton contribute minutes, he contributed offensively. In just his seventh game for Columbus, Connauton made a great read in overtime (at the end of a looooooooooooooooong shift) and jumped up in the play with Ryan Johansen.
