Colorado State football notes: Rams mix up formations offensively

LAS VEGAS — To start, Colorado State coach Mike Bobo wanted speed on the field. When it was necessary, he wanted poundage.

The Rams used both theories to great success on Saturday in a 42-23 victory over UNLV at Boyd Stadium.

Michael Gallup has taken over as the Rams' go-to wide receiver, and he was once again in the game, putting the final touches on the win with a 36-yard touchdown catch where quarterback Nick Stevens made the right read by targeting him short on a deep route. Gallup took over from there, spinning once, spinning twice and evading a trio of UNLV defenders to fight for the end zone.
