NEW YORK — The Rockies are suddenly winning, and dominating, with pitching.
That’s not a typo.
They beat the defending National League champion New York Mets again Friday night in front of a raucous, but ultimately frustrated crowd of 40,035 at Citi Field. The big guns in Colorado’s 6-1 victory were starter Tyler Chatwood and late-game reliever Scott Oberg.
Toss in a solo home run by Mark Reynolds in the eighth and a three-run blast by Carlos Gonzalez in the ninth and it put the Rockies in a very nice New York state of mind. Including a three-game sweep earlier this season in Denver, the Rockies have defeated the Mets all five games.
