Tyler Chatwood presses with workload in Rockies’ Cactus League win over Padres

PEORIA, Ariz. — Tyler Chatwood cut loose Sunday in the Cactus League, throwing 98 pitches in an endurance test against the San Diego Padres. It was the longest outing of the spring for a Rockies pitcher and Chatwood pitched like the season had started.

The veteran right-hander gave up one run on four hits, while striking out seven against two walks in six innings in the Rockies’ 4-1 victory at Peoria Sports Complex.

“I felt like I got better as I went. And I still felt strong at the end,” Chatwood said. “I was locating the fastball and I had a good cutter-curveball combo.
