Saunders: Jeff Hoffman’s demotion does not mean Rockies blew Tulowitzki trade

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — So what do we make of Jeff Hoffman‘s demotion to Triple-A Albuquerque?

Judging by emails I’ve received from several irate Rockies fan, the sky is falling and general manager Jeff Bridich should be drawn and quartered for engineering the trade that brought Hoffman to Colorado two years ago. To which I say, “Take a deep breath, chill and gain some perspective.”

To review: On July 28, 2015, the Rockies shocked baseball by trading star shortstop Troy Tulowitzki and soon-to-retire reliever LaTroy Hawkins to Toronto for veteran shortstop Jose Reyes and right-handed pitching prospects Miguel Castro, Jesus Tinoco and Hoffman, the ninth overall pick in the 2014 draft.
