Home sweet home.

Not.

Despite a furious rally that erased a seven-run deficit, the Rockies lost 9-8 in 12 innings to Pittsburgh Wednesday night at chilly Coors Field.

Pirates shortstop Jordy Mercer cracked a two-out double off reliever Carlos Estevez, scoring Gregory Polanco with the winning run. Polanco reached on a one-out walk.

Colorado had a chance in the bottom of the 12th when DJ LeMahieu and Tony Wolters reached on walks. But Pirates closer struck out rookie shortstop Trevor Story looking at a 90 mph cutter.
