Jon Gray allows four runs as Dodgers best Rockies on Vin Scully Appreciation Night

LOS ANGELES — With actor Kevin Costner participating in pregame ceremonies on Vin Scully Appreciation Night, perhaps it was apropos that Jon Gray channeled his inner Ebby Calvin “Nuke” LaLoosh.

In four innings Friday, Gray seemingly did everything but bean the mascot in the Rockies’ 5-2 defeat at Dodger Stadium.

He was nearly unhittable for 3 2/3 of those innings, until allowing back-to-back home runs to Los Angeles’ Joc Pederson and pinch-hitter Andre Ethier.

Gray’s pitching line: four innings, three hits allowed, four runs, three bases on balls, 10 strikeouts and one batter hit with a pitch.
