Greg Holland goes on paternity list, so Tyler Chatwood joins Rockies’ bullpen

ST. LOUIS — Bullpen reinforcements could soon be on the way via a trade, but in the meantime, the Rockies were forced to make some internal moves to provide them with relievers.

Closer Greg Holland went on the maternity list Wednesday because his wife, Lacey, is scheduled to give birth in Denver. Holland, who has converted 31-of-32 saves, is expected to rejoin the Rockies at some point during their weekend series at Washington.

In Holland’s absence, the Rockies moved usual starter Tyler Chatwood off the disabled list and into the bullpen. Manager Bud Black said the club still considers Chatwood a starting pitcher for the long-term, but added that the right-hander will remain in the bullpen through at least the weekend.
