Colorado Rockies Prospect Countdown – #3: Jeff Hoffman

By now, most Rockies fans are already familiar with Hoffman. After starring in the prestigious Cape Cod summer league, he was a candidate to be drafted first overall out of East Carolina University before forearm tightness led to Tommy John surgery.

The Toronto Blue Jays drafted him ninth in 2014, but he pitched in just 13 minor league games for them before becoming the center piece of the trade that sent Troy Tulowitzki to Toronto. Roughly one year later, Hoffman made his big league debut, and to be frank, it didn’t go well.
