Bud Black sites pluses and minuses of three Rockies competing in WBC

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — International baseball is calling and will soon interrupt the Rockies’ spring training routine.

New manager Bud Black thinks there is a lot more good than bad to the situation, even though three of his key players will miss time with the Rockies. Third baseman Nolan Arenado and left-handed reliever Jake McGee will represent the United States in the World Baseball Classic this spring. Right fielder Carlos Gonzalez is playing for his native Venezuela. Outfielder Gerardo Parra was contemplating playing for Venezuela but has now decided against it. The fourth WBC runs from March 6-22.
