Colorado Rockies players not participating in Home Run Derby

PHOENIX — The Rockies entered Thursday's late game at Arizona having belted 88 home runs, third most in the National League.

Third baseman Nolan Arenado had swatted 24, tied for third-most in the majors.

But there won't by any Rockies participating in the Home Run Derby at Cincinnati's Great American Ball Park on July 13, the day before the All-Star Game.

Arenado is likely to be selected to the All-Star Game, though not as a starter for the National League, but he said he won't be taking his hacks in the derby.

"I just think it would be too much, if I make my first All-Star Game," Arenado said.
