Tim Howard called up to U.S. Men’s National Team

The full roster for the next round of World Cup qualifiers was announced this afternoon, and the lone representative of the Colorado Rapids will be Tim Howard. This isn’t a surprise to anyone because Howard has been head coach Bruce Arena’s go-to goalkeeper whenever he is healthy.

Howard last played with the national team a couple months ago in March vs. Costa Rica, after recovering from surgery from an adductor injury sustained vs. Mexico in November 2016.

When asked about the pool of goalkeepers, which also includes veterans Brad Guzan and Nick Rimando, as well as newcomer Ethan Horvath from Club Brugge, Arena said:

“Tim Howard, Brad Guzan, and Nick Rimando are certainly very experienced goalkeepers and have proven that they can play well for the U.
