With the defeat at Portland last Sunday, the Rapids lost control of the Supporters’ Shield race, but can still emerge as the ultimate victor if they defeat Houston and FC Dallas lose in LA.
Houston, on the other hand, can gain little from the final match of a disappointing 2016 campaign other than some satisfaction from denying the Rapids a piece of silverware, while helping their Texas neighbors.
