#OnThisDay: Dick’s Sporting Goods Park hosts the 2007 MLS All-Star Game

The sound of 18,661 screaming fans filled the air on July 19, 2007 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, as fans patiently waited for the start one of Major League Soccer’s most eagerly-anticipated games.

Just three months after the gates of DSGP opened, it hosted the 12th annual MLS All-Star Game. The best in the league clashed against the then 41-time Scottish League champions Celtic.

Juan Pablo Angel of New York Red Bulls opened the scoring for the MLS greats in the 36th minute. Houston Dynamo’s Dwayne De Rosario delivered a ball through the middle to Angel, who slipped a left-footed shot into the back of the net.
