You know the old cliché — if Wayne Gretzky or Patrick Roy can get traded, there’s no such thing as an untouchable player. Indeed, coach Roy and Avalanche GM Joe Sakic have said numerous times there are no real untouchables on the Colorado Avalanche.
However, there are certain players who serve as the core of the team. The Colorado Avalanche brass would essentially have to be saying that they’re doing another major overhaul and going into another rebuilding session if they traded even one of these players. Yet every player sans one — #1 on the list — has been the object of trade rumors even recently.
