Trevor Bauer continues to wonder when Lady Luck will befriend him: Zack Meisel's musings

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The baseball deities tend to laugh at our gut feelings.

The Twins entered Friday's action with the second-worst team ERA in the American League.

Only the Orioles feature a less productive pitching staff. (More on them later.) No one will confuse Adalberto Mejia, Minnesota's starter in the series opener, with Bert Blyleven. Not to mention, the Indians' offense had been rolling, with an average of 7.6 runs over their last nine games.

Two words, then, can sum up what unfolded on Friday night: That's baseball. Expect the unexpected. Anticipate the inexplicable. Shake that gut feeling.
