Indians notebook: The curious case of Carlos Santana; Nick Hagadone beginning rehab

CLEVELAND: Carlos Santana could be the basis for a half dozen arguments. It just depends through which prism you wish to view his season.

Some, metaphorically red in the face, have cursed his name in frustration. Others, now blue-faced, have spent the year defending him at every turn.

Some numbers are good, some bad. Some are odd, some will regress back to his norms. The basis is that he’s had value offensively though not coming through in some key situations.

By one of the most well-balanced advanced metrics available, Weighted Runs Created Plus (wRC+), Santana hasn’t been his normal self but has still been above average.
