Weekly Wroundtable: What to Do With Cleveland Indians’ Jose Ramirez

Jose Ramirez has had a rough start to his season. Heading into Thursday game, Ramirez was batting .198/.260/.261, with one of the worst lines in the league. His defense has been a trainwreck, with seven official errors and plenty of uncharged mistakes, like failing to turn double plays. Is his poor performance at the plate getting into his head on the field? Or perhaps it’s the other way around, and his defensive shortcomings are causing his offensive struggles.

Either way, it’s hurting the Indians. With Francisco Lindor in Columbus, Mike Aviles on the bench, and Zach Walters splitting time between the two, Ramirez has lots of competition for the shortstop job, and he sure doesn’t seem as though he’s earning his everyday spot in the lineup.
